The Kelly Silver Star - Half Circle Gag Bit With Copper Twisted Wire Dogbone is stainless steel with 3" cheeks and a 5 1/2" mouthpiece. The single twisted wire mouthpiece is often used when more control is needed. However the dogbone center piece reduces the nutcracker effect which is found in single-jointed bits and also helps encourage relaxation. The copper mouthpiece also encourages salivation and keeps the horses mouth soft. 

This bit works off the corners of the lips, tongue and bars. The curb design allows an additional pressure area for control and education. The Half Circle Gag is also a great training bit with direct control for adding suppleness and setting the head. When used in the training process it is best to use split reins and a curb chain. This type of bit is also a great alternative to the traditional ring bit.
