The "D" shaped snaffle ring does not allow the bit to rotate which makes the bit more fixed and prevents the horse’s lips from being pinched. The D-Ring snaffle features straight bars which provide a slight lateral guiding effect. This is due to the bit ring being pulled against the side of the mouth opposite the rein that is activated, pushing the sides of the "D" against the horse's mouth which encourages a turn.
